Congratulations Professor Laura Serrant, CBE and Peter Mucklow, CBE
The Chair of Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, Professor Laura Serrant OBE and Non-Executive Director, Peter Mucklow have both received a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), in the King’s birthday honours list published today. Laura has received her honour for services to nursing in the North East and Yorkshire, and Peter has received his honour for services to education.
The Commander of the British Empire Award or CBE is the highest ranking of the Order of the British Empire awards and is given to recognise individuals amazing achievements, service to the country and acknowledge the positive impact they have made in their work.
Laura was appointed to the Chair of Board as Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust Chair in January 2024 bringing more than 35 years’ experience of working in leadership positions in healthcare and higher Education. She undertook her nursing training in Sheffield and is a Professor of Community and Public Health Nursing and was awarded an OBE in 2018 for her work in nursing and health policy. This newest honour is recognition of her continued dedication and work within healthcare and health education.
Peter joined Sheffield Children’s as a non-executive director in September 2023 having worked in the education and skills sector for over 25 years in a variety of roles at the Department for Education and Sheffield City Council. Peter worked as Director of Apprenticeships for the Department of Education from 2020 to 2023 and before that was Director of Further Education Funding and Director of Young People. Peter has been honoured for his work in apprenticeships and further education.
Chief Executive of Sheffield Children’s, Ruth Brown said: “We are feeling doubly honoured that two members of the Sheffield Children’s Board have received CBEs in the King’s Honours. It is wonderful that both Laura and Peter’s amazing work in healthcare and education has been recognised. We are very fortunate that they are contributing their skills and experience to help Sheffield Children’s provide healthier futures for children and young people.”
