We’re really pleased to have recently welcomed Peter Mucklow as a Non-executive Director on our Board of Directors.
Non-executive Directors work with our executive team to help influence our strategic direction and to develop the quality of the service we provide. They’re a really important part of the way we work and we’re very happy to have Peter joining us to help shape the future here at Sheffield Children’s.
Peter has decades of experience working in children and education services through a variety of roles including at Sheffield City Council, as a Director of Apprenticeships for the Department of Education and as a trustee for the Steel City School’s Partnership Trust.
Peter said: “I’m really looking forward to working as part of a strong, mixed board at Sheffield Children’s and I’m particularly interested in using my skills to help support with recruitment and staff wellbeing. I also have lots of experience with partnership working so I’m keen to champion the community services here and to support the work that is happening in primary care.”
Both Peter’s children have grown up and moved away from Sheffield now – one is in Leeds, and another in Belfast – but Peter remembers trips to Sheffield Children’s with his daughters when they were younger as they were both “customers of the emergency department!”.
Peter is sure that his many years of personal and professional experiences will support him in this new role, and he’s excited to hear more from our children, young people and families as he gets stuck in.
Peter started his new role on 1 September 2023. He replaces Peter Lauener who stepped down after seven years as a non-executive director.
Welcome Peter, we’re really glad you have joined us.
