list of departments

The main children’s hospital is on Clarkson Street in the centre of Sheffield and we have several other sites around the city. Maps, contact details and opening times are provided below.

Many of our services are run on an outreach basis so that children can be seen closer to their home. To find out if the service you want to access runs at other sites, speak to your consultant at your next appointment.

Sheffield Children’s Hospital

Many of our outpatient clinics and all our beds for medical and surgical patients are at the main hospital site and we have intensive care and high dependency units to support our surgical and trauma services. This is also the site of our Emergency Department.

The hospital Main Entrance on Clarkson Street is open every day 24/7. Our Emergency Department is open every day via the entrance on Western Bank.

The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and provides care for children up to the age of 16.

COVID-19 swabbing pod

Directions to coronavirus testing point

The pod for COVID-19 swabbing is accessed via the children’s hospital underground car park. Please note that this is for pre-booked or hospital arranged appointments only.

Find your way around the hospital

We know that it can be tricky to find your way around the hospital, especially while construction work is taking place, and we thank you for your patience while this happens.

Look out for lift directories and signage around the building to help you find where you want to go. If you get lost, a member of staff or volunteer will be happy to help point you in the right direction.
