Sheffield Children’s patients and their families who have received treatment during 2022/23 are being invited to make a nomination for the Children’s Star Award 2023.
The Children’s Star Award is a publicly nominated award which is received by one team and one individual at the Sheffield Children’s Star Awards – a celebration event for people who work at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust to recognise their outstanding work.
The Star Awards have now been running for twelve years, with the last ceremony held online in October 2021. During those awards Dr Hemant Kulkarni, Respiratory Consultant, won the individual Children’s Star Award. He was nominated as a “hero” who “goes over and above.”
One person who nominated Hemant said: “I really believe if it wasn’t for this lovely kind hearted hero, my little boy would still be struggling for every breath.”
The team award went to the “incredible” Ward 5 team. One of their nominations read: “The whole ward were amazing and gave me breaks so I can clear my head. Huge support to us both! My son is unable to communicate but they all spoke to him, played with him and comforted him. I really can’t praise them all enough.”
Nominations for this year’s awards will close 5pm on Wednesday 14 June 2023. Nominations can be made at https://www.sheffieldchildrens.nhs.uk/about-us/star-awards/
The awards will be presented at a ceremony later in the year.
