Sheffield Children’s is delighted to show you one of the vans in our new fleet of electric vehicles as part of our Green Plan!

Now known as ‘Theo’s Green Machines’, the vans are used every day by the Estates, IT and Hotel Services teams.

We are passionate about reducing our carbon footprint and switching to electric vehicles is just one of the changes we have made.

Our ambition is to be in the top 10 greenest NHS providers in the country and in doing so, help to create a healthier future for children and young people.

The Hotel Services vehicle is used daily by John, a Porter at our Ryegate Children’s Centre.

John drives from the acute hospital site to Ryegate to deliver internal post and stock to colleagues, and he transports physiotherapy equipment to schools. He also brings hot meals and clean laundry for the children and young people staying at our respite unit, Ryegate House.

If you spot John in Theo’s Green Machine, be sure to give him a wave!

John Williams, Director of Finance and Green Lead at Sheffield Children’s, said: “We are delighted with our new vans and hope they will add some colour and fun to the streets of Sheffield, while helping deliver on our responsibilities with regards to improving the environment and air quality.”
