We had an absolutely brilliant time in the sunshine on Sunday providing inclusive sports experiences and lots of health support, advice and games for children, young people and families. Our multi-talented team from the Ryegate Children’s Centre showed they were dab hands with the face paint throughout the day, as well as supporting our patients and lots of other young people to try frame football, tennis, trikes and bikes, dance, and boccia.
This was our second partnership of the year in our Super Saturday series and we’d like to say a big thank you to the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park for inviting us to take part in their Olympic Legacy in Action event, and to all the community organisations who made the day so special.
Bee O’Shea, Research nurse at Sheffield Children’s said: “An amazing inclusive day was enjoyed at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy bringing communities together in the sunshine. The day demonstrated what we do best – putting children and families at the heart of our support, care, health education, and on this day, fun in movement. There was judo, football, ice skating, making local allotment lavender bags, learning about clinical research studies for healthy volunteers, free books from Reread and lots more!”
If you don’t already know about the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park then do check them out as they offer a huge range of opportunities for everyone to get involved with all kinds of sports. They also host a whole ecosystem of research and innovation organisations including cutting-edge diagnostics, and elite sports and rehab facilities.
In the not too distant future we will also be based at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park as we’ll be bringing our world-class National Centre for Child Health Technology to life at this incredible location.
Thanks again to everyone who attended and helped organise this amazing event. We’ll be announcing our next Super Saturday soon so watch this space!
