Sheffield Children’s celebrates 150 years with special party for children and families at The Spark

We’re inviting children and families to join a special birthday celebration as we mark an incredible milestone of 150 years of caring for children and young people. 

On Saturday 14 November 2026, Sheffield Children’s will officially turn 150 years old, marking a proud history of outstanding care, remarkable stories and healthier lives for generations of children and families. 

Since 1876, community has been at the heart of Sheffield Children’s. The children and families we care for, our partners, supporters of Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, and generations of colleagues and supporters have all played a part in creating the Sheffield Children’s that is trusted and appreciated by so many today. 

To celebrate, we’re hosting a free family birthday party for children and families across our community at The Spark, Sheffield Children’s world-class facility at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park. 

Families attending can enjoy a range of exciting activities throughout the day, including  a Teddy Bear’s Hospital experience, games with Playful Anywhere, inventing with Kids Invent Stuff, birthday crafting with ArtPlus, a marketplace with community organisations and Sheffield Children’s teams, special surprises and more! 

Families can choose from three sessions taking place throughout the day. Attendance is free and tickets must be booked online in advance for everyone in your group attending.

The event forms part of Sheffield Children’s 150th anniversary celebrations, recognising our long-standing commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and beyond.
