Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a new non-executive director to join the Trust’s Board of Directors and help influence its strategic direction over the coming years.

The new non-executive director will join a Board that prides itself on keeping patients at the heart of its decisions.

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is the only dedicated children’s trust in the country that provides care for children and young people in acute specialist settings and mental health services from community to highly specialist in-patient care.

The successful candidate will have a track record of leadership, strategic focus and personal achievement in a complex environment.  As a non-executive director they will need the ability to influence the strategic direction of the organisation and have a passion for developing the quality of service provided by the Trust. They will also need to act as an ambassador and advocate for the Trust.

The successful candidate will replace Patricia Mitchell who is stepping down at the end of September after eight years as a non-executive director.

Another non-executive director, John Cowling, will also leave the Trust after eight years.  He will be succeeded by Shaeen Azam, who joined the Trust as an associate non-executive director last October.

Chair of the Trust, Sarah Jones, said: “I would like to thank Patricia and John who are leaving us at the end of September this year.

“Working alongside them has been a pleasure. Their dedication to, and passion for, improvements across the Trust has been invaluable.

“As we are losing people with significant experience of the NHS and us as a Trust, we are looking for someone who can bring a level of experience, as well as a fresh perspective and insight to our Board.”
