As part of our 150th anniversary year, Sheffield Children’s is refreshing our Memorial Garden – an important space for remembrance, reflection and comfort for patients, families and colleagues.
Sheffield is known as one of the UK’s greenest cities, where parks, trees and natural spaces play an important role in supporting health and wellbeing. We know that having peaceful places to pause, reflect and connect with nature matters, especially during difficult times. Even in busy city centres, protected green spaces can offer moments of calm, healing and hope.
Over the years, families and visitors have shared feedback about the Memorial Garden and the importance of ensuring it remains a peaceful, welcoming and accessible place for everyone who uses it.
This summer, work will begin to sensitively refresh the Memorial Garden to create a special place to remember loved ones – providing a space that support healing, wellbeing and quiet reflection.
Existing memorial features will be treated with care, and where possible, elements of the current garden will be thoughtfully reused.
The Memorial Garden holds many different memories and connections for people, including patients, families, colleagues, organ donors and families affected by historical organ retention.
Whether you visit the garden regularly, have a loved one remembered there, or simply value the space, we would be grateful to hear from you.
If you have a memorial stone in the garden, we are particularly keen to hear from you.
The refresh of the Memorial Garden will continue to offer peace, comfort and connection with nature for generations to come.
We know the garden means a great deal to many people and we would love to hear from you if you use the space – Sheffield Children’s Memorial Garden Refresh – Fill in form
