We’ve welcomed two new members into our Youth Forum! We’re really excited to introduce Shreya and Ivy, who chatted to us all about their ambitions as they begin their Youth Forum journeys.
As a former patient, Shreya relished the opportunity to get involved with our Youth Forum. During her time here, she is looking forward to facilitating a welcoming environment across our entire Sheffield Children’s community. Shreya said: “I have been a patient at Sheffield Children’s since I was very young, and I have always received high-quality care. I am grateful for the dedication and passion of the hospital staff, and I want to do my part to create a youth-friendly environment at the hospital and in the wider community.”
Ivy has also spent time with us at Sheffield Children’s before and is excited by the prospect of joining up with our existing Youth Forum members. Ivy said: “I’ve had a great experience with Sheffield Children’s myself and I want to join the forum to help the Trust be even better for the people who stay and visit.”
Both of our new members have set their sights on making a difference in a range of services across Sheffield Children’s. Ivy said: “I would really like to help to improve the experience for patients and families across the Trust, whether that be in our Outpatients department or our emergency department.”
Shreya said: “I am really interested in being involved in projects that focus on raising awareness of the various wellbeing services that the hospital offers for young people, as well as those that focus on being greener for the environment.”
All of our Youth Forum members have busy schedules, and Shreya and Ivy are no different. Shreya, the reigning Yorkshire Badminton Champion for her age group, has been representing Yorkshire at a County level for two years, and plays national junior circuit badminton regularly. Alongside scaling the walls during climbing sessions, Ivy often finds herself climbing the pentatonic scales whilst playing her guitar. Ivy is also an avid reader and loves to get crafting in her spare time.
We’d like to thank Shreya and Ivy for speaking to us, and hope that all of our Sheffield Children’s community joins us in giving this duo a warm welcome and wishing them the best of luck as part of our Youth Forum!
