There’s a bright future in tech ahead for Godswill Erhunmwunse who has received the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Student of Excellence Award.

Godswill is one of the brilliant UTC students we’ve had the pleasure of working with this year as part of the KidsUP™ Accelerator with Sheffield Children’s – a programme designed to drive the development of innovative health technologies for children, the NHS and the global healthtech market.

With his unique perspective, incredible technical understanding, and young voice, Godswill brought invaluable insight on the Young Person’s Panel which helped healthtech companies refine their cutting edge products.

Godswill received the award for his volunteer work with Sheffield Children’s, and for his exceptional innovation and technical ability throughout his time at the UTC. We helped surprise Godswill on site at our National Centre for Child Health Technology to present his much-deserved award, which was a big shock for him!

And that’s not all – after a highly competitive application process, and completing his A-Levels, Godswill will soon be starting a Software Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with Royal London to kick-start his career.

Godswill said: “As a UTC student I’ve really been supported to fulfil my potential and had the chance to explore different sectors and opportunities that I never thought were possible. I feel really honoured to have received such a prestigious award to mark the end of my time here. Being part of the KidsUP™ Accelerator with Sheffield Children’s was an eye-opening experience and it all really helped me grow in confidence and learn more about potential career options. Software engineering allows digital technology to connect the world in all kinds of ways, so let’s see where the world goes! It changes so quickly and that is what is exciting.”

Best of luck for the future Godswill – you never know, we might just see you back developing healthcare technology for children one day soon.
