It’s time to announce the winners of the most recent Theo Awards!
Developed in partnership with The Children’s Hospital Charity, the Theo Awards recognise and reward members of staff who embody the Sheffield Children’s values of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence on a daily basis.
This month, we’re celebrating the achievements of four individuals, who have gone above and beyond in supporting their teams with the aim of creating a healthier future for children and young people:
First up, Outpatient Booking Clerk Richard Haslam was nominated because of his dedication and drive to making sure that patients and families at Sheffield Children’s receive safe, kind and outstanding care.
He supports clinical colleagues to make sure that clinics run effectively and efficiently. His team said: “Richard aims to continuously improve the customer service standard across the department and across the Trust more broadly. He is a star that people can navigate by and brings light to our lives on a daily basis.”
Next, Sarah Launt, one of the Trust’s amazing radiographic aides, demonstrates compassion and kindness every day whilst delivering outstanding care to patients.
Her team said: “Sarah goes the extra mile when caring for our patients and families. She radiates compassion in every situation, especially when reassuring families and supporting them through their tests. She is empathetic and shows accountability with families too.”
Sandra Cole, Care Support Worker on the Paediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU), is committed to making Sheffield Children’s a brilliant place to work.
Her team sang her praises as a kind and compassionate member of the team, who is always around for support whenever they need it. Her team said: “Sandra is always supportive of her PCCU colleagues, whether delivering training across Sheffield Children’s Hospital or preparing tea and toast for teammates in need of a break. Her hard work, dedication, is invaluable to everyone on PCCU.”
Finally, we have Pharmacy Stores Manager Hannah Bennett. Hannah is valued by her team for her wisdom and leadership skills, with teammates particularly making note of her compassionate management style.
Her team said: “Hannah leads by example and takes accountability for her work. She is an amazing listener, always knows just what to say, and is eager to help wherever she can. Her compassion shines through in everything that she does, making sure that everybody has a voice and that the team is able to deliver an outstanding service for patients and families visiting Sheffield Children’s.”
