People over 16 years old

The Sheffield Children’s Speech and Language Therapy team is commissioned to work with children and young people between 0 years to their 16^th birthday.

Please see below for information about support services that are available to people over 16 years old.

Support Services for people 16 years and above

Speech, Language and Communication Needs Support:

• Sheffield Children’s NHS Resource library
• Stammering Services – This is a service for people who stammer. 
• Neuro Enablement Service (NES) – This is a service for people living with a long-term neurological condition, such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and other neuro-muscular conditions. 
• Sheffield Community Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team (SCBIRT) – This is a service for people who have had a traumatic or acquired brain injury. 
• Sheffield Adult Autism and Neurodevelopmental Service (SAANS) – This is an assessment and support service for people with, or suspected, autism and ADHD.

Support services for 18 years and above

• Adult Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT) – This is a service for people with a Learning Disability.  
• Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Speech and Language Therapy service – This is a service for people with swallowing difficulties, acquired communication disorders, voice disorders, hearing loss and cochlear implantation. You can read more about the service on the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals leaflet.
