The Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery Team includes hand surgeons, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
The Hand Therapy team consists of Andrea Strogen and Kerry Nettleship. Andrea is the lead occupational therapist for Paediatric Hand Therapy with over 25 years’ experience. Therapists are based within the Pink area of Outpatients at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
The service is currently offered four days a week.
Hand therapy is often required to regain range of movement and function within the hand following an operation or injury. Therapists will assess the movement, function, and strength of the hand and offer treatment options to support in recovery.
This is our therapy room where you will see your occupational or physiotherapist. It is located in the Pink area of the Outpatients department, at the Clarkson Street entrance of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Patients can be referred to Hand Therapy in a variety of ways. A referral can be made through their General Practitioner or from doctors within Orthopaedics and Plastic Surgery at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
The referrals received are processed and prioritised by therapists and an appointment will be provided at the next possible opportunity. It is an extremely busy service and at times there may be a waiting list in operation.
