Laura was appointed to the Board as Trust Chair in January 2024. Laura has more than 35 years’ experience working in leadership positions in Healthcare and Higher Education. She is a Sheffield trained Registered Nurse and is a Professor of Community and Public Health Nursing. Throughout her career she has contributed to and been responsible for overseeing many innovations in policy, education and research which have directly impacted on frontline NHS care. Her past roles have included Regional Lead Nurse for Workforce Training and Education at NHS England (North East and Yorkshire), Head of School of Nursing at Manchester Metropolitan University and Director of Evidence and Strategy at NHS England. She has worked nationally and internationally on health policy development with specialist input on health Inequalities and service user engagement. In June 2018 Laura received an OBE in Queen Elizabeth II Birthday Honours’ list for services to Nursing and Health Policy.
Laura also holds a Trustee Role at The Florence Nightingale Foundation and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, The Queens Nursing Institute and Faculty of Nursing at the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland.
