Dr Tony Hart has been a full time Consultant Paediatric Neurologist at Sheffield Childrens Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2012. Dr Hart’s interests include neurology of both the newborn infant (neonatal neurology) and unborn baby (fetal neurology), alongside the long term effects of congenital infections, the causes of developmental difficulties, neuromuscular disorders and general neurological problems.
Dr Hart has a passion for teaching and training, and was instrumental in creating the UK’s first neonatal neurology education (NeoNATE) course, with the support of the British Paediatric Neurology Association.
Dr Hart has an active interest in research to improve the assessment, investigation and treatment of children and young people with neurological disorders. In 2007 he was awarded his research doctorate (PhD) into the role of Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the preterm infant’s brain and its correlations to neurodevelopmental outcome at 18 months corrected age. In 2015 he was awarded a place at the University of Sheffield School of Health and Related Research Clinical Research Academy, aiming to develop research projects within the NHS.
