Child Health

mum and baby

Our Child Health team makes sure that each child in Sheffield has an active care record.

They also support screening programmes, immunisation and Healthy Child Programme services.

The Child Health team is responsible for recording a number of different areas:

  • new birth registrations
  • childhood vaccinations and immunisations
  • teenage vaccinations and immunisations
  • newborn blood spots
  • infant feeding
  • transfer of child health records
  • looked after children and adopted children

The team handles direct queries from families and parents and works with health visitors, school nurses, the Jessops Maternity Unit and GP practices. They also liaise with other child health services nationwide and organisations such as the local authority, Public Health England and the Department of Health, among others.
