Role: Deputy Head of Oncology Section

Polly joined Sheffield Diagnostic Genetics Service in August 1993 and is currently Deputy Head of Oncology Genetics. She is currently the departmental STP Training Lead and sits on the HODS steering committee. At a national level, Polly sits on the CEQAS SAG steering committee and acts as an assessor and is also a UKCCG Steering committee member.

Polly graduated from University of York in 1993 with a BSc Honours in Biological Sciences. She continued with her studies obtaining her Certificate of Competence in Clinical Cytogenetics in 1996 and followed this in obtaining her Diploma of the Association of Clinical Cytogeneticists in 1998.

In May 2002, Polly completed her MRC Path Part 1 in Cytogenetics and in March 2006 achieved a Postgraduate ILM Diploma in Management from Sheffield Hallam University. She followed this by obtaining her FRC Path in Cytogenetics in May 2009.

Polly is currently working on a part-time research PhD on the genetics of myeloma with Dr Chantry at The University of Sheffield, Medical School.
