I was elected as a public governor in September 2019 for the Sheffield constituency.

I have long had a bond with the Sheffield Children’s after being a long-term patient when younger and seeing first-hand the amazing care available. More recently my children have visited the hospital with similar positive experiences.

As well as being a governor at the hospital I’ve been an ambassador for The Children’s Hospital Charity since 2012.

I have a particular interest the patient journey, making sure every child has a positive experience every step of the way and that their families feel engaged and supported throughout.

I was elected as a public governor for Sheffield in September 2019.

My bond with the Trust started in 1991 when in the space of two weeks I was diagnosed with Toxoplasmosis and then suffered an accident on my way home from school breaking my leg. I became a long term outpatient, the care I received was amazing and I’ve always vowed to give something back. I have volunteered and fundraised for the hospital’s charity since 2001 and became a charity ambassador back in 2012. I currently work for Sheffield Hallam University as a Commercial Manager supporting a number of business areas within our campus.

Having experienced the hospital from the perspective of a patient and more recently through the eyes of a worried parent I have developed an understanding of the challenges faced and a real passion for improving the patient journey. I’m really excited to support the trusts ambitious aims to continuously improve the service user experience.
