Gill joined Sheffield Diagnostic and Genetic Services in January 2004 as part of the re-configuration of the Genetic Services in Sheffield. She is a Consultant Clinical Scientist and Head of Oncology Genetics. Gill is responsible for the provision and development of a high quality Oncology Genetics services for both acquired and inherited conditions at both regional and national level. She is also a member of the Senior Management Team.
Prior to joining SDGS Gill was Principal Clinical Scientist and Deputy Laboratory Manager in the Molecular Haematology Unit based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals from 2001 to 2004. She then became Scientist Manager and Head of Molecular Oncology Service from April 2004 until August 2011. Gill was then appointed as Consultant Clinical Scientist and Head of Oncology Genetics.
Gill is also an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Infection & Immunity at the University of Sheffield.
Gill studied at the University of Sheffield, graduated with a BSc Dual Hons in 1980 and obtained her PhD in 2006. In 2010 Gill became an Associate of the Royal College of Pathologists.
