Profile

BSc (Hons) Children’s Nursing

I qualified as a Paediatric Nurse in 1998, working at Rotherham DGH and then Westmead Children’s Hospital Sydney. I moved to Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHSFT in 2006 as a senior staff nurse and joined the Paediatric Bone Disease Service in 2009.

I have experience of working with children with a wide variety of bone conditions, including Osteogenesis Imperfecta, X-L-H and Hypophosphatasia. I co-ordinate multi-disciplinary care for inpatients and outpatients who attend for medical treatment. I have been involved with recruitment and ongoing support of patients to number of research studies.  I remain involved with ongoing research projects and introduction of new medical treatments.

I am an active member of the Paediatric Osteogenesis Imperfecta National Team (POINT), and Rare Bone Nursing Network (RBNN).

I liaise closely with colleagues in the other National Specialist Centres and with outreach hospitals to provide specialist care for children with OI.

I continue to strive for best patient outcomes for children with rare bone diseases.
