Areas of work

Dr Vaidya is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with experience of practicing psychiatry across two continents. He works with young offenders and those at risk of entry into the Criminal Justice System.

Within the area of Looked After Children (LAC), Dr Vaidya works with a wide range of agencies – social workers, foster carers, registered children’s homes, birth parents and with Local Authorities. He is part of an in-reach team that provides mental health input to Aldine House, a local authority run secure children’s home in Sheffield.

Dr Vaidya also undertakes reports for courts, both as a professional witness and as an expert witness. He has also been called upon to give evidence at Crown and Magistrates Court.

In view of increasing risks of electronic addiction among young people, Dr Vaidya is developing a research protocol for exploring the prevalence of video gaming addiction in young people.
