Dr Fiona Shackley

I came to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital as a consultant in 2002 to run the Immunology, Allergy and Infectious Disease Service.

I trained in Immunology, Allergy and Infectious Diseases in Sheffield, Glasgow and Toronto where I completed a fellowship in Immunology, Allergy and Bone Marrow Transplant and was involved in paediatric vaccine studies as part of the Oxford Vaccine Group.

I see understanding infection and the immune response as being key to so many aspects of paediatric care and education, and collaboration with families and colleagues is vital to providing evidence based patient focused care. We hope to support equity of access to excellent patient care for children with immune and infection related health problems across Yorkshire and Humber and to contribute to national improvement in children’s health.
