BSc Hons in Psychology
Doctor of Clinical Psychology, University of Sheffield, qualified in 1995.
Experience and current role
After qualifying in 1995 I started work in Sheffield Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and over the years have worked in three of its Community CAMHS Teams.
In April 2005 I joined the Mental Health Service for Looked After Children which is now called MAPS for Looked After Children.
In April 2007 I became Team Leader and in 2011 changed to Service Lead which means that as well as undertaking clinical work I liaise closely with Sheffield City Councils, Children, Young People and Families Service (CYPF) to identify the work that is needed and undertaken by MAPS.
The models that influence my work are Attachment, Trauma and how they impact on brain development and functioning (Complex Trauma). Treatments consistent with these models which I undertake are Therapeutic Re-parenting, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Life History work and some Theraplay techniques.
