Cathy Byrne

I was elected in September 2019 as a public governor at Sheffield Children’s.  I am a mother to three children and have always worked with children and young people to support and equip them to reach their full potential, including working for a time at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.  I currently work to support vulnerable children in education, whilst also training as a counsellor.  I continue to be passionately committed to promoting the welfare of all children and young people, and especially to the fantastic work and vision of Sheffield Children’s.  

I have a particular interest in children’s mental health and emotional well-being, and am committed to working to address the growing mental health crisis and equipping our children and young people to have greater self-awareness and self-care in this crucial area of well-being.  

I am a public governor for North Derbyshire constituency and am happy to hear from staff, parents, service users and members of the public.  I will do my best to ensure your views are heard and am always keen to increase and promote links between the trust and community.
