Preparation for Birth and Beyond

Baby

Do you want to meet other people in your local area who are expecting their babies at a similar time to you? The ‘Preparation for Birth and Beyond’ course gives people expecting a baby the chance to get the most up to date information on birth, feeding and caring for their babies from fully qualified and experienced staff.

The course takes place at a number of locations around Sheffield and is delivered by midwives, health visitors and infant feeding peer support workers.

Sessions are held over a series of five weeks and cover a range of topics including:

  • going into labour
  • how to help yourself in labour
  • how birth supporters can help
  • recognising your baby’s cues for feeding or comfort
  • breastfeeding
  • practical care of babies and safety concerns
  • your support networks
  • how life might change for new parents

Sessions are for people expecting a baby and partners/birth supporters. You are welcome to come on your own or bring a friend. The sessions are a mix of virtual meetings and face-to-face groups at family centres.

Venues are:
