We are able to provide a comprehensive assessment for children referred with complex neurodevelopmental difficulties.
We may diagnose a range of neurodevelopmental disorders including:
The assessment takes place over two days and children are seen by:
The Early Years Education Service may join the assessment team for children under five.
A hearing test is usually carried out at Sheffield Children’s Hospital prior to the assessment.
The assessment is concluded with a meeting of the team followed by discussion with parents/carers about the outcome with future management recommendations for the child.
Finally a report is produced for parents to share with non-health professionals supporting their child.
Referrals from GPs, educational psychologists or early years teachers are accepted for Sheffield residents aged up to 16, although children from out of Sheffield maybe considered for second opinion assessments following GP referral.
