Our Cardiology Service provides oupatient services for children of all ages in Sheffield with heart problems. The service is run by Sheffield Children’s Hospital from the outpatient facilities at the Northern General Hospital
Dr John Thomson (Paediatric Cardiologist) and Dr Rupa Talekar (Paediatrician with expertise in Cardiology) run a joint clinic where children with suspected heart problems can be seen and assessed with almost all of the necessary investigations, including heart scans performed at a single visit.
Dr Talekar also runs a weekly cardiology clinic which offers specialised cardiac investigations such as ECGs and echocardiograms.
Dr Thomson is a cardiologist at the tertiary congenital heart unit in Leeds and Dr Talekar a paediatrician at Sheffield Children’s Hospital so facilities at each unit can be efficiently accessed when problems are identified.
The clinic is supported by experienced nursing staff including senior nurses from the children’s heart unit in Leeds.
