Shaping research

Our Research and Innovation Team at Sheffield Children’s is dedicated to the development of new medicines and treatments for children and young people to make sure we are always delivering the very best care we can. We believe it is essential to work in partnership with children, young people and their families to achieve this.

Through learning from children and young people’s lived experiences we can be sure our research programmes keep improving all the time. All of this works to help us develop the healthcare of tomorrow, healthcare which meets the needs of the children and young people that we care for.

At Sheffield Children’s this collaborative working comes in the form of our Shaping Research, Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Group. This group provides opportunities for children, young people and their families to get involved in helping shape our research and innovation projects.

Get involved

By being part of our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Group you will be able to shape the research we do at Sheffield Children’s in a number of ways. For example you might be able to help come up with new ideas for projects in areas where there are unmet clinical needs or you might get to help design protocols, support grant applications or help try out new pieces of equipment to improve their design.

If you are interested in helping us develop our research and innovation at Sheffield Children’s or you would like to find out more about our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Group, then please click on the information sheet below and fill in the sign up form. If you have any questions, then please feel free to get in touch on scn-tr.sch.ppie@nhs.net.
