Ward 6 is where we care for children and teenagers with cancer and blood disorders.

We are a 16-bedded unit which includes six protective isolation cubicles, used mainly for children who need to be isolated to prevent infections, for example bone marrow transplant patients.

We have a Play Room with an immersive screen allowing families to play interactive games or be transported to places around the world including a child’s own bedroom if they are missing home.

Ward 6 mainly cares for people aged 0 to 16 years old, with transition to adult care beginning before 16 years to make sure there is a smooth transfer of care.

There is a Parents’ Room which has tea and coffee making facilities and also washing facilities.

There is also our Haematology and Oncology day care attached to the ward which is open for day-case treatments.

Do It For You Day

The day is for children and young people aged 0-19 who are currently being treated or who have previously been treated for cancer at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
