Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust sees children and young people 17 years of age and below with lots of different conditions. Our Emergency Department sees children who are 15 years of age and below.

Contact details and maps are available for all of our sites and you can find out more about the many services we offer.

This area of the website explains more about the facilities available at the hospital and lots of other useful information to help you prepare for your visit.

Coming to hospital

If your child is visiting the hospital Outpatients Department or if they’re staying on one of our wards as an inpatient, this area of the website will tell you everything you need to know about how to find us and what to expect when you’re here.

If your child is coming for an operation or procedure that needs a general anaesthetic you’ll need to go to the Theatre Admissions Unit. This area of the website contains lots of information to help you and your child prepare for their visit, including FAQs and a short video (with Makaton narration) about having an operation.

If your child is coming for an infusion or to participate in research, they may go to Medical Daycare.

Tips from parents

Thanks to members of the Sheffield Parent Carer Forum who have worked with us to prepare some tips for parents/carers bringing children into hospital for appointments or ward stays.

The tips have been compiled with children with disabilities and/or special needs in mind, but should be useful for all parents.

Please try not to bring valuables into hospital. The Trust cannot accept any liability for loss or damage of valuables.
