Haemophilia and other bleeding disorders


The Haemophilia Centre at The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield is a UKHCDO recognised paediatric haemophilia comprehensive care centre (CCC) which cares for children with a range of bleeding disorders. Children attending the centre come from the South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Humber areas.

The centre provides treatment, routine and emergency care, and support for children and their carers with a comprehensive range of services including genetic counselling, dentistry and physiotherapy.

Home delivery of factor concentrate is organised for children who are on prophylactic treatment.

Thrombosis and anticoagulation

Children who require long term anticoagulation attend the centre for blood monitoring and clinical review as needed. They have open access to the centre for any problems associated with their anticoagulation.

Children with congenital thrombophilia are referred to us and are reviewed in the consultant clinic.
