We’re at Meadowhall and Pitsmoor Adventure Park today!

Vaccinations are available at Meadowhall (details below) and lots of useful information and support is on offer.

Conkers are already falling from trees which can mean only one thing – September is here and it’s back to school season!

Our Super Saturday event today is dedicated to supporting children and young people as they get ready for the return to school, or start school for the first time! We know that September can be a time that’s filled with lots of different emotions, change, and juggling all kinds of things from packed lunches to sleep troubles. We’re here to help with health advice and support that could make returning to school easier for everyone.

There’s lots to get involved with today in locations across the city as our teams will be based at Meadowhall from 9am-4pm and at Pitsmoor Adventure Park from 12pm-4pm. You can find all kinds of support, information, and free resources about healthy routines for school, movement, nutrition, oral health, sleep, feelings and much more.

As well as having teams based inside Meadowhall, our health bus is going to be in the carpark near the Argos entrance. This is the first time we’ve brought the health bus to Meadowhall and we’re looking forward to offering drop-in vaccinations from 10am. The vaccinations that will be available for children aged 4-18 years old are:

– TDP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)

– MEN ACWY (meningitis and septicaemia, meningococcal groups A, C, W and Y disease)

– HPV (human papillomavirus)

Children aged 4.5 years and above will also be able to get an MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccination.

There will also be a dedicated teenager space next to the health bus where colleagues and the team from Smoke Free Sheffield will be talking about vaping and stopping smoking, sexual health and research opportunities.

Like usual, we’re offering extra pre-booked appointments at our Western Bank site and we’re also holding a special clinic for patients with asthma. The aim of this clinic is to provide additional support to some patients whose current asthma symptoms could potentially lead them to needing emergency care as we head into the colder months.

It’s going to be a busy day so if you’re planning on nipping to Meadowhall for last minute essentials, or going to the park to have some fun, come and say hi!
