Sheffield Children’s Hospital has been listed as one of the World’s Best Specialised Hospitals 2023 in a survey amongst medical professionals.

The survey gave over 40,000 medical professionals the opportunity to list any hospital they wanted to recommend. The overall list of specialised hospitals is based on three data sources; worldwide survey, accreditations and certifications and Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) survey data.

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist centre for children’s health supporting children and young people from across the region, and in some cases nationally and internationally.

The Trust provides physical and mental health care in hospital, in the community, at home, in school and even in the skies (through the Embrace transfer service), and are driving the future of children’s healthcare through pioneering paediatric trials and research across a wide portfolio of clinical specialties.

The survey is a result of Newsweek, a news platform, partnering with global research firm Statista. They ranked the world’s best specialised hospitals, covering 11 specialities including paediatrics. The ranking looked at specialised hospitals in different areas and featured the top 200 hospitals for paediatrics, in which Sheffield Children’s Hospital is included.

Ruth Brown, Chief Executive of Sheffield Children’s, said: “Our mission is to create a healthier future for children and young people. To do this, we are constantly striving to provide the best care for our patients and their families, and being recognised globally for our specialist care is fantastic.

“Whether we’re innovating and researching or providing the care we have provided at a high standard for years, Sheffield Children’s has children and young people at the  heart of everything we do. We’re really proud to be recognised globally for the work we’re doing, and thank you to everyone who is part of the Sheffield Children’s team.”
