Your invite to ‘Do It For You Day’ on Sunday 2 October.
This year is the tenth year of Do It For You Day! The day is for children and young people who have received treatment for cancer or a bone marrow transplant at Sheffield Children’s. Each year The Children’s Hospital Charity fund the fun.
That means a day full of climbing walls, football, obstacle courses and – new for this year – Quidditch!
Research has shown that survivors of childhood cancer have lower levels of physical fitness than their peers and this continues through into adult life, impacting on their future health. This event encourages activity in children and young people at all stages of their cancer treatment or follow up.
The Haematology and Oncology department have developed the event with help from the University of Sheffield to support families during and after their treatment.
If your child would like to have a go at lots of different activities during the day – and maybe even find one or two to carry on with closer to home – please join us at the English Institute of Sport.
So we know how many people are coming along, please email thomas.fletcher7@nhs.net to book your place. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of you there!
Do it For You Day is at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) on Sunday 2 October between 10am and 4pm. It’s completely free, but it’s only for children and young people who have received treatment for cancer or a bone marrow transplant at Sheffield Children’s.
