Play volunteers on the wards help the play specialists to deliver activities to patients either at their bedside or in a play room. You will help create displays on the ward and help clean toys and prepare resources. You will also need to be able to chat to parents and carers. Sometimes you may not have a play specialist with you so you need to be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative. Reliability is very important. Apply

One of the busiest volunteer roles. Welcoming any visitor to the hospital and getting them to where they need to be. You will need a good head for directions and be able to be on your feet for a few hours. Plenty of walking to most departments in the hospital. You will help patients complete their self-service check-in on the touch screens and will get involved in patient experience activities. Requires confidence and big smiles. At busy times you may be asked to support a different outpatient department. You will get involved in Patient Experience work – asking families for feedback and you will support nursing teams by taking blood samples from outpatients to the labs. 3 or 4 volunteers per session.
