All volunteer roles currently available at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust are listed in the table below. Once you’ve decided on the role(s) you’d like to apply for, please complete the online application form. Many of our volunteer roles are for specific time slots, so please check the time and day listed next to the role and only apply if you are available at those times.

Supporting children and their parents/carers by chatting and playing with children as they wait to go to theatre for surgery. Also welcoming children back from theatre into the recovery area, giving snacks and drinks and preparing trolleys, changing laundry etc. This is a busy department requiring confident volunteers who can get stuck in. One of the busiest volunteer roles. Welcoming any visitor to the hospital and getting them to where they need to be. You will need a good head for directions and be able to be on your feet for a few hours. Plenty of walking to most departments in the hospital. You will also help patients complete their self-service check-in on the touch screens. Requires confidence and big smiles. Apply

Many visitors use the Emergency Department as an entrance to the hospital, so this role involves moving people through the department quickly and helping them get to where they need to go. You will be on your feet walking around the hospital, often helping other people as you go. Lots of confidence needed. Apply

Supporting the Volunteer Services team by collating and collecting information from volunteers. Maintaining folders and supporting events etc. Apply
Admin Volunteer Physiotherapy Any weekday 3-4 hours Preparing patient information. Filing and archiving. Apply
Admin Volunteer Dermatology, 47 Wilkinson Street Wed pm This department is looking for a volunteer who is great at IT and can do some non-patient typing and working on patient information leaflets plus basic tasks like stapling and photocopying. Apply
Therapeutic Massage Volunteer Throughout the hospital Fri am or pm You will need experience of neck and shoulder and hand massage. Over the clothes neck and shoulder massage and hand massages given to parents and carers on various wards across the hospital. All resources supplied. Aimed at easing stress and calming anxious parents. Apply
League of Friends Shop work and committee members Any days/times am and pm The League of Friends are a charitable group who make and sell items within the hospital to raise funds for equipment and other things which benefit our patients. The shop is open every weekday and the committee meets monthly. Apply
Friends and Family Test Volunteer Throughout the hospital Any weekday am and pm The Family and Friends test is a three-question survey which we use to improve our services. Volunteers need the confidence to approach families in outpatient departments to ask them to complete the survey on iPads. This is suitable for people who need flexibility with their times. Apply
