Work Placements

• Work experience students

  Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust offers work placements for students aged 16 years and over for up to 4 days in various clinical areas. Places are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis.

• Four day work placement students

  Shadowing experience is aimed at students who are 16 years or over and interested in a career in within the NHS.  The placement consists of spending a day on a ward, half a day in Radiography, half a day in Orthoptics and a day in Daycare (nursing) or shadowing a consultant (medicine). Places are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis.

• Individual placements

  These are placements where the individual is interested in shadowing a specific member of staff or working in a particular department. Placements are arranged by the students themselves and the requests are considered on individual basis. 

• Undergraduate / Pre-registration students

  These placements are for University students requiring elective placements as part of their undergraduate or pre-registration programme. We recommend checking with your university beforehand as they may already have arrangements in place.
  

• Post-graduate / Post-registration students

  Placements aimed at University students requiring elective placements as part of a post-graduate or post-registration programme. Please check with your university beforehand as they may already have arrangements in place.

• Visiting practitioners
  

  Practitioners from any staff group occasionally request to visit either specific individuals or departments. This is particularly useful if you wish to explore other careers or are interested in benchmarking against best practice.
