Play equipment donation guidelines

In the interest of safety for our patients the trust requests the following:

• All donated play equipment must be new. It must be clean, safe, suitable and complete. This precaution is necessary to keep within the guidelines of health and safety and infection control.
• New soft toys can be accepted to be given as presents, but not for general use on the wards.
• Some of the wards are now fitted with over the bed entertainment systems therefore it is no longer appropriate for the trust to accept donations of video cassettes.
• Please ask for a name and address and forward this information to the Assessment Play Co-ordinator c/o the Child Assessment Unit.
• All donated play equipment must be checked by a member of the play team. To contact the play team please bleep 048 Monday – Friday 9.30 to 4.30.The equipment must be cleaned according to hospital guidelines before it can be used on a ward or department.
