Patients & Parents

Welcome to Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust where we see patients of all ages with lots of different conditions in a variety of settings.

In this section you can find information about:

Coming to hospital

If your child is visiting the hospital Outpatients Department or if they're staying on one of our wards as an inpatient, these handy booklets tell you everything you need to know:

Download: Inpatient Booklet (PDF)
Download: Outpatient Booklet (PDF) this leaflet will be updated soon
Download: Having an operation at Sheffield Children's Hospital (PDF)

If your child is coming for an operation or procedure that needs a general anaesthetic you'll need to go to the Theatre Admissions Unit. This area of the website contains lots of information to help you and your child prepare for their visit, including virtual tours, FAQs and a short video (with Makaton narration) about having an operation.

Main entrance

As part of the hospital redevelopment works, the old main entrance doorway is now permanently closed. Visitors can access the hospital through the new main entrance off Clarkson Street.

Tips from parents

Thanks to members of the Sheffield Parent Carer Forum who have worked with us to prepare some tips for parents/carers bringing children into hospital for appointments or ward stays.

The tips have been compiled with children with disabilities and/or special needs in mind, but should be useful for all parents.

Please try not to bring valuables into hospital. The Trust cannot accept any liability for loss or damage of valuables.
