Sheffield Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service

Launched in October 2005, Sheffield Forensic CAMHS is the only community Forensic CAMHS team in Yorkshire. It is made up of two senior clinicians with administrative support. 

What do we do?

Sheffield Forensic CAMHS provides consultation to professionals working with young offenders or those at risk of offending. Following consultation we may, in agreement with the referrer, proceed to an assessment of the young person. We will then discuss the findings with the referrer and the young person (and their family where appropriate). In some cases, we would offer appropriate treatment following which the young person would be discharged back to the care of the referrer or to the care of their GP where appropriate.
 
We prefer to have a consultation rather than a paper referral since that provides us with an opportunity to explore the case more thoroughly.

What is the scope of our service?

We provide what is called an ‘enhanced’ Tier 3 service.

We provide an In-reach service to Aldine House and a Community CAMHS service to other referrers.
