Help make a difference to children's lives
Ward S3 is a specialist orthopaedic and plastic surgery ward at the Children's Hospital. We care for children aged 0 to 16 with various surgical conditions. As the hospital is a regional referral centre we see a mixture of patients, providing care for children with conditions including: emergency trauma, orthopaedic, and plastic surgery. We also care for children with metabolic bone disorders, and those requiring specialised spinal and paediatric limb reconstruction.

Ewa Matuszyk was born with skeletal dysplasia, a growth condition which causes her bones to be shorter than normal.
Experts within the orthopaedic department at Sheffied Children’s Hospital have carried out complex surgery to strengthen Ewa’s spine and help her to breathe more easily.
We recognise that play is an important part of a child's life and ensure it takes place in hospital.
