General Practitioners

All GPs can refer to our services through Choose and Book. Our Directory of Services in Choose and Book provides details of relevant protocols or referral thresholds for each service. GPs wishing to refer not using Choose and Book will need to check with their local Primary Care Trust about referral pathways.

Referrals need to contain all relevant clinical information about the patient and up to date demographic information including contact details for the patient. Referrals need to be to a service rather than a named consultant and need to be sent to the Trust’s Referral Booking Management Service.

Consultants from other NHS organisations

Referrals need to be to a service and not an individual clinician. In addition to relevant clinical information and appropriate contact details for the patient, referrals must be accompanied by the 18 weeks Inter Provider Transfer minimum data set information. Referrals should be directed to the RBMS department.

Other professionals

The trust only accepts referrals from other healthcare and social care staff from our local Primary Care Trusts. In all cases you must check with your local PCT about the referral pathways to our services before you refer.

International or private referrals

If you wish to refer a private patient to one of our consultants you will need to contact them directly. You can find their contact details using the service finder function on our teams and services page. Here you can search by name or specialism or browse or search through our departments.
