Help make a difference to children's lives
The Radiology department is located on the main site sitting just behind the Emergency Department. The team is made up of 40 people, nine of which are Consultant Radiologists and we carry out around 60,000 examinations a year.
We offer a range of services, including:
Radiology is open 365 days a year with an on call service outside of the normal working day for the imaging of emergency patients only.
We offer GP patients a walk in service for their plain film examinations between 9am and 4.30 pm Monday to Friday. You must remember to bring the request card with you which will have been issued by your GP.
The department is involved in the training of new professionals including radiographers and radiologists. We provide placements for student radiographers from Sheffield Hallam University who are supervised by our staff and gain a wide range of experience in paediatric imaging.
All of our staff are encouraged and supported to be active in their continued professional development to ensure a high standard of care is provided.
All of our radiology images are stored electronically on our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). This allows clinicians to access your images quickly and easily. Your images are stored on servers on site and backed up in multiple locations off site to ensure that information is not lost in a disaster situation.
We will need to gain consent from your consultant and there will also be a charge from the department to produce the CD. Please complete the form and send back to the radiology department.
