Our services

• General and specialist services

  Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust provides an exceptionally wide range of general and specialist services for children and young people across South Yorkshire and beyond on an outreach basis.

  These services include:

  • Highly specialised health care, for example, medical and surgical specialist treatment for children and young people.  These services include neurosurgery, oncology, endocrinology, specialist orthopaedics, neonatal surgery, metabolic disease, gastroenterology, respiratory diseases, intensive care, cystic fibrosis and neurology.  These services are provided to meet the needs of children and young people living across South Yorkshire, North Trent, Lincolnshire, and the Humber and in some cases from across the country. 
  • Secondary healthcare – providing a range of hospital services for the children and young people of Sheffield.  This includes Emergency Department (ED) services, acute paediatrics, orthopaedics, general surgery, general paediatrics, dermatology and diabetic care.

• Community based services

  The community based services provided by the Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust include community paediatrics, child development, support for adoption and fostering, medical safeguarding advisory services and services for children with neurodisability.

• Child and adolescent mental health services

  A full range of mental healthcare services for children and young people is provided, working closely with partner agencies in Sheffield.  The trust provides general mental health care together with specialist services, such as forensic services and services for vulnerable children.  We also provide Tier 4 services for the larger South Yorkshire and North Trent population.

• Children's and infants' transport service

  We provide the transport services to move very ill children and infants in the region to the best facility to meet their clinical needs.  This involves professional healthcare staff travelling with the patient in specially designed ambulances. • Other services

  We provide specialist pathology and genetics services often through other hospitals or other professionals.  A number of highly specialised pathology services, including newborn screening  and genetics are included.

• Non-clinical services

  We provide some non-clinical services such as Information Technology training, room hire and conference facility hire.  
  
  Our hospital school is there also there for all our patients, whatever brings them to stay in our hospital and our Patient Advice and Liaison Service  offers support for patients and their carers.
