A wide range of healthcare journals is available electronically and in print for library users.

Electronic journals for NHS staff and students

At NHS Evidence MyJournals you can access a wide range of electronic journals.  Login with your NHS Athens account to see the full range of print and electronic journals available to you purchased by the Illingworth Library and nationally and regionally by the NHS. 

If you do not have an NHS Athens account, you can register online. Users of the healthcare databases provided by NHS Evidence (such as Medline, EMBASE, CINAHL and others) will also see links to full-text journal articles in references found during a literature search.  Where a journal is held in print by the Illingworth Library this will be indicated.

If the journal is not available online or in print you can use our document supply service to obtain copies of any articles you need (there is a charge for this service).

Print journals held in Illingworth Library

The Illingworth Library also buys a selection of healthcare journals in print.  The current and back issues are shelved in the library.  Journals are not available for loan, however photocopying facilities are available.  Please visit the library charges page for information about charges for photocopying. To find out which journals we hold please check the library catalogue or download the list. 

Electronic and print journals from the University of Sheffield

An honorary contract with the University is required to access their electronic resources via MUSE.  Consultants and trainees in a ‘run through’ paediatric post working for Sheffield Children’s NHS FT are eligible.  Download an application form here.  Visit the University of Sheffield electronic resources page for details of available resources.  NHS staff who are not eligible for honorary status may access some of the University’s electronic journals through walk-in-access. The University of Sheffield also has a wide range of current and archived print journals .  These are listed on the University of Sheffield’s STAR catalogue.
