Help make a difference to children's lives
These usually provide a summary of evidence from one or more articles, and may include a clinical ‘bottom line’. They are best found in the following sources:
Use the ‘Evidence Based Synopses’ limit on the TRIP database to filter the results TRIP searches a large number of sources for evidence-based synopses, critically appraised topics (CATs) and journal clubs.
Is a freely available NHS resource, providing evidence based information combined with practical recommendations about commonly encountered conditions, aimed at professionals working in primary care.
Is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'. It has clinically-organised summaries for more than 3,000 topics. Subscription is needed for the full version but DynaMed Weekly Update is a compilation of one to five articles selected as articles most likely to change clinical practice.
(Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness) is prepared by the NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination and is available as part of the Cochrane Library (results are listed under ‘other reviews’). It comprises evaluative abstracts of systematic reviews.
Was developed by the Emergency Department at Manchester Royal Infirmary, aiming to provide evidence based answers to real life emergency situations. Despite this early focus on emergency medicine, it has now expanded its coverage to include paediatrics, cardiothoracics, nursing and primary care.
