Help make a difference to children's lives
Amber Lodge is a specialist regional Tier 4 child and adolescent mental health service for 5 - 11 year olds. It provides an intensive outreach and day patient service to children with serious and complex mental health difficulties, and their parents, carers and families.

At Amber Lodge we accept referrals from Tier 3 community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) teams across the region, including Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and North Derbyshire.
The focus of our work is on the child and family within their context, with flexible outreach visits and close liaison with local services. We undertake a thorough ‘Meeting and Planning’ process when we receive a referral, to make sure everyone agrees our involvement and goals.
Some children attend as day patients two days a week, and we have an excellent educational service on site as well as group and individual therapeutic activities.
Information leaflets about Amber Lodge, for referrers, parents and children are available. It is important to us that children and families feel comfortable talking to us, and that we work together to help children with serious and complex mental health and emotional difficulties.
The team at Amber Lodge consists of very experienced nurses and teachers and other members of the multidisciplinary team. There are male and female nurses (who do not wear uniform) and male and female teachers, who run the day programme. The staff build on the children’s interests to help them progress with their school work as well as improve their well-being through group work and individual sessions. We have a playground and space to play football, and often organise outings.
We also have a team of outreach workers who work with families, children and schools in their local area.
