About Embrace

The Embrace Transport Team is staffed by nurses and doctors experienced in providing the intensive care needs of critically ill and injured neonatal and paediatric patients. 

On making a referral, the referring clinician will be able to give some basic details to our call handlers who will then create a conference with the transport doctor and nurse on duty. The consultant from the destination hospital will also be included, as can doctors from sub-specialties. Once the decision has been made to transfer the child or infant, the team aims to mobilise within 20 minutes.

The transport team will consist of a medical lead, transport nurse and/or Advanced Nurse Practitioner, and an ambulance driver.  There may be additional team members who are undergoing training in specialist transport skills.
